R&R Cultivation is Expanding!

R&R Cultivation is Expanding!

NOTE: Since this blog was published, we've moved to an even BIGGER urban farm location in New Hope, MN. Read more here.

R&R Cultivation started with a goal to make wholesome, fresh, nutritious mushrooms accessible to everyone. We were happy to lead the charge as a local grower of organic produce, but we quickly realized that our small 4x4 foot growing tent wasn’t going to allow us to meet the increasing demand for gourmet mushrooms. In 2019 we set out to secure a warehouse space where we could quickly and efficiently produce more mushrooms for farmers markets, co-ops, and grocers.

Our team has learned so much as we’ve made changes and increased the size of our urban farm. Our expansion has allowed us to scale up our production and make our mushrooms available to restaurants and home cooks throughout the Twin Cities.

Here’s more on our expansions and our plans for the future.

Expanding Access to Organic, Gourmet Mushrooms

Our team has so much fun expanding the business over the last three years. What started out as a process of trial and error in Founder Nick Robinson’s basement has now expanded into a flourishing business in Roseville with employees and a storefront.

One of our proudest accomplishments is turning a 10,000 square foot warehouse space into “mushroom central.” Within our warehouse we have an expanded wholesale packaging room, additional cold storage space, and 4 temperature & humidity controlled grow rooms. This warehouse space has allowed us to go from moving 100-22 pounds of mushrooms per week just a few years ago to now moving upwards of 2,000 pounds each week!

What’s Next for R&R Cultivation?

As we expand, sustainability and support for our local community remain our highest priorities. We plan to increase our sustainability by switching to 100% compostable packaging by the end of the year. We’ll continue offering quality local produce at farmers markets and co-ops because we know many Minnesotans want to decrease their carbon footprint by purchasing their food nearby.

We’re so excited about where we’ve been and where we’re headed. Thank you to all our customers, new and old, who are on this journey with us!
